Description

Ferdinand the Bull Matador Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1938). "First came the banderilleros. Next came the picadors. Then came the matador, the proudest of all!" This original hand-inked and hand-painted nitrate production cel features the flamboyant matador in full-figure complete with red cape which appears around the 4:49 mark in Walt Disney's Ferdinand the Bull. With his slicked-back hair, pencil-thin mustache, and exaggerated flair, the matador is believed by some to be a playful caricature of Walt Disney himself. This Academy Award-winning short was based on Munro Leaf's beloved 1936 book and remains popular with audiences over 80 years after its original release. The character image measures 4" x 5.5" and exemplifies the expressive animation style and exquisite detail associated with production art from Disney's Golden Age. It is in a 15.5" x 16" frame under glass with a mat opening of 8" x 8". Very minor paint separation in the red cape. Overall condition is Very Good. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
