Wile E. Coyote Limited Edition Artist Proof Tile Set of 4 by Allyson Vought (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Allyson Vought has a long history of producing stunning artwork for Warner Brothers, having created a series of massive character panels for the Warner Brothers flagship store in NYC. In the late 1980s, she developed the concept of the "Animation Art Tile," combining the craftsmanship of traditional Catalina-style tiles with the characters and scenes we love from our favorite cartoons. Here is a very rare piece from Allyson's hand. This is an original Artist Proof set of four hand-glazed ceramic tiles depicting Wile E. Coyote. The scheming coyote is depicted as he prepares to throw a grenade (probably his latest attempt at trying to catch the Road Runner!), only to have the plan quickly backfire on him. This tile set appears to be one of the earliest created for the series, possibly even being a test proof, as it has a vertical arrangement rather than the horizontal sequence that was used for the final piece. The edition itself was highly limited, with only 50 released in the standard edition and 10 released as artist proofs, but this piece is even more unique! The beautiful tiles were painstakingly hand-glazed and fired to give them their clean, vibrant look, and the top tile is hand-signed by the artist. Each tile measures about 11.75" wide and tall. The frame measures about 55" x 16.5" x 2". The piece is in Very Good to Fine condition, with minor handling, and the frame is sold as-is.Auction Info
