Description

Fred Moore - "Freddie's Girl" Original Illustration Pair (c. 1940s). Two "Freddie's Girls" come to life in this lot, both brought to life by the hand of Disney Legend Fred Moore (1911 - 1952). Moore began his career at Disney in 1930 at the age of only 19, starting as an inbetweener and quickly working his way up to become one of Disney's most valuable artists who helped to animate Three Little Pigs, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Dumbo, and redesign Mickey Mouse. His "Freddie's Girls" were coveted by his coworkers and by fans and collectors in the modern day, which makes this pair of 12 field 5-peghole illustrations a real treat. These lovely nude ladies are rendered in graphite with conté crayon and measure about 10'' x 9'' and 5.25'' x 8.5''. The drawings were originally held in the archive of Disney Legend Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008) and there is similar artwork of them on page 121 of Johnston's co-written book Disney Animation The Illusion of Life. Prints of these pages are included in the lot as reference. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint age-related toning, and light smudging.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
