Description
Pete's Dragon Elliott Color Model Cel, Original Storyboard Art by Ken Anderson, and Pair of Publicity Photos Signed by Joe Hale (Walt Disney, 1977). "See you tomorrow." Included in this lot is a spectacular original charcoal storyboard by Disney Legend Ken Anderson (1909 - 1993), a full figure color model, and two publicity photos - one signed by Joe Hale (1925 - 2025) - all from Disney's live-action/animated feature film Pete's Dragon. The film originally released to theaters on 11/3/1977 and told the story of Pete, an orphan boy looking for family, and his best friend Elliott. The titular dragon was created by Anderson, who was also a sequence director for the character's animation. The storyboard is mounted to a 11.25'' x 10'' board and has been signed by Anderson in the lower right, created to prepare for the scene at about 1:01:10 when Hoagy and Lampie try to find Elliott in his cave during the dead of night. The 16 field color model cel is displayed on print background from the scene where Elliott appears at roughly 55:54, admiring Pete's new clothes now that the boy has found a place to stay. His full figure is about 6.25'' x 6.75'', displayed in a 20'' x 16'' mat with COA on the back. Last but not least, the 8.5'' x 10'' publicity photographs capture two hilarious scenes that are sure to bring a smile to your face: Terminus and Hoagy from near the end of the film, and Joe Hale lifting Terminus' by the coat. The latter has been signed by the multi-talented artist in the lower right. A reminder of Disney's ingenuity and lighthearted storytelling, the lot is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear.Auction Info
