Description
The Jungle Book Mowgli and Baloo Production Cel Signed by Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas (Walt Disney, 1967). "Look now, it's like this, Little Britches. All you gotta do is..." Mowgli gets a lesson on life in the jungle from his new bear friend Baloo in this fan-favorite animated feature. Mowgli takes center stage in this original hand-painted two-level 16 field production cel, with an approximate image size of 3.5" x 7" as he walks in front of the towering body of Baloo, who measures 7" x 8.75. The cels were laminated in the 1990s at the Disney Studios in hopes of preserving them; however, laminated cels must be very carefully maintained and saved in a cool environment. The Mowgli cel includes a Disney seal in the lower right and was hand-signed by two of "Walt's Nine Old Men," Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008) and Frank Thomas (1912 - 2004). The cel exhibits some paint separation and "haloing" where the paint and laminate begin to separate. We feel this is still an important cel image, and we've placed it on a print background from the movie, added for presentation purposes. The cel is in Fair to Good condition due to the haloing.From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
