Description

Cinderella Fielding Layout Art Group of 7 by Ken O'Connor with Studio-Printed Fielding Layout for Early Version of The Little Mermaid (Walt Disney, 1950). We have in this lot a fascinating selection of seven original fielding layout drawings created to plan the pivotal scene in which Cinderella meets the Fairy Godmother, created by the celebrated layout artist and Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (1908 - 1998) for Disney's animated masterpiece, Cinderella. O'Connor's involvement with Walt Disney started in 1935, where he contributed as art director and layout artist in numerous productions, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, Pinocchio, and Alice in Wonderland, to name a few. A great example of the remarkable artistic and technical vision of O'Connor, these drawings show three 12-field drawings of the distance Cinderella runs before reaching the bench at the backyard, an event taking place at the 41:41 mark of the movie, as well as framing of the characters for this scene, and four done on 16-field animation sheets created to design the movement of our protagonist, the approximate distance, horizon line, her direction, and the pivot movement of the camera. The drawings are done in graphite, charcoal, ink, and red pencil. Included with the lot is an incredibly rare studio-printed fielding layout of his artwork for an early version of The Little Mermaid on a 16-field sheet. The drawings present typical handling and edge wear from production, with some showing light graphite or charcoal smudging. This lot is overall in Good to Very Good condition, showing normal age-related toning.
