Description
Walt Disney's Disneyland "Saludos Amigos" Pedro the Mail Plane Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1942/58). "First a little plane began to take shape... with a personality all his own." Pedro, the incredibly expressive Chilean Mail Plane, is presented in this outstanding two-image color model cel believed to have been created in association with the shortened cut of the 1943 anthology film Saludos Amigos which aired as a Season Four episode of Walt Disney's Disneyland. From the final season to air under the original Disneyland branding, this episode premiered on January 8, 1958 and featured the majority of the eponymous theatrical film which was edited to fit within the episode's broadcast timeblock. Created by the famous Disney Ink and Paint department as a way to keep his character consistent and on-model for any newly animated interstitial segments in which he would appear for the television episode, Pedro has been hand-inked and hand-painted to both left and right facing full-figures with each model measuring 4.75" x 2.75". The 16 field cel has been paired with a gradient color card background for display purposes and matted to an overall size of 17" x 14.25 with an aperture of 11.75" x 8.75". The piece is jointed by a Courvoisier-style CoA prepared by the Disney Art Props Department. With typical handling and edge wear including evidence of professional restoration and slight rippling of the acetate, overall this charming color model is in Very Good condition.More information about Disney Television Animation.
