Description

Carl Heilborn "Marketplace at Rowen" Watercolor Painting Original Art (1939). Carl Westdahl Heilborn (1906 - 1954) was trained at Chouinard Art Institute, and was a member of the California Water Color Society along with Lee and Mary Blair. From 1935 until 1949, he was a staff artist at Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox, and he opened and operated an exhibition gallery in 1950, where he displayed work by himself and others. Here's a large watercolor on paper painting based on the market place in the small town of Rowen, California, located in Kern County, southeast of Bakersfield. This is an eye-popping explosion of color and shapes, painted on paper measuring approximately 28.5" x 21". Condition is Very Good with minor handling, with edge and corner wear.
From the Mary Blair Family Trust.
