Description

Goliath II Rare Goliath and Elephants Original Storyboard Art Group of 5 Attributed to Bill Peet (Walt Disney, 1960). Goliath II followed the titular elephant as he struggled to prove himself to his father - the largest elephant in the herd - when he was constantly in danger because of his diminutive size. The short was Disney's first using the less expensive xerography method and was full of cameos and designs that would later be reused, including the designs of the crocodile from Peter Pan and the elephants from The Jungle Book. This lot features a group of five spectacular original storyboards of several of the elephants from the short, including Goliath II's father, that are attributed to children's book illustrator, Disney animator, and writer of the short Bill Peet (1915 - 2002). The storyboards look to have been created for one of the first scenes in the short where Goliath easily pushes down a large tree. Each storyboard is rendered in conté crayon and artist marker on paper with a protective onionskin paper cover and are presented in a 5.75'' x 4.25'' mat window on a 10.5'' x 9'' overall mat. Very Good condition for these hard to find storyboards with minor edge and handling wear and light age-related toning.
