Description

Gulliver's Travels Rare Storyboard Drawings Original Art Group of 24 (Fleischer Studio, 1939). This Fleischer Studio's first feature-length cartoon took shape thanks to hundreds of storyboard drawings that mapped out the sequences, including some that were cut from production. Here's a rare series of original storyboards for various "Hap-Hap-Happy Day" scenes, including: villagers shaving Gulliver with a sickle and hot towels; Gabby falling in the giant's pocket after a hot towel lands on his head by accident (as seen at about the 47:19 timestamp); Gulliver's hand in the barber shop (at about 47:27); two drawings of Gulliver bumping into a house and a lady yelling "Pardon me, young man" out the window; working on the heels of Gulliver's boots; and one drawing of King Little and Princess Glory. The art is in various combinations of graphite and color pencils on 12 field animation paper; image size on average is 7" x 5.5". Some of the images are sketchy, others more detailed; some drawings, like a man yelling for "Hot towels! C'mon with 'em!" marked through with an "X" for cut scenes. Overall condition is Good with handling and edge wear including small areas of missing paper, and age-related toning.
From the Mike Glad Museum Collection.
