Description

Sleeping Beauty Prince Phillip and Samson Production/Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1959). "For an extra bucket of oats... and a few carrots? Hup, boy!" Prince Phillip bribes his faithful steed Samson to follow the alluring voice drifting though the forest in this original production/color model cel created for Disney's 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. As the film's production progressed, Disney chose to expand the role of this character leading him to become the first named Prince while firmly establishing him as Aurora's "true love," which created additional suspense in his interactions with Maleficent. Similar to his scenes beginning near the 24:46 timestamp, Phillip can be seen guiding Samson rapidly through the forest as he tried to locate the mysterious, melodic voice. The duo have been hand-inked and hand-painted to full-figures sharing a centered combined image area of 3.5" x 3". The pan cel has been trimmed slightly at the right edge to an overall size of 15.75" x 11" and has been placed on a print background for display purposes. With typical handling and edge wear from production, overall this incredible cel is in Very Good condition.
