The End of Evangelion Asuka Langley Soryu and Shinji Ikari Production Cel (Gainax, 1997). "Sections 1 and 3 of the east wing will be shut down today at 1800 hours. Please complete all patient transfers by 1600 hours today." Shinji Ikari attempts to shake an unconscious Asuka Langley Soryu awake in this superb original production cel from one of the most controversial and notorious scenes in the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. From early in Hideaki Anno's gripping animated feature conclusion, The End of Evangelion, Shinji can be seen around the 2:22 mark of the film, forcefully begging Asuka to wake and offer him advice or even an insult. Capturing the utterly apocalyptic mood of the infamous scene, this piece has been hand-painted in a washed-out monochrome of icy, clinical blues. The close-up pair fill the frame of the 12 field cel with a combined measurement of approximately 10" x 7.75", and the production code A8 can be found in the upper right corner. This piece shows minor handling and edge wear due to normal use in production including minor fading to the linework; the condition is Very Good.
