Kimba, The White Lion "Destroyers from the Desert" Nero, Butcher Boy, and Chiller Production Cel with Rough Animation Drawing (Mushi Production, c. 1965-66). Presented is a spectacular hand-inked and hand-painted original production cel featuring the enormous Nero from the classic Kimba, The White Lion episode "Destroyers from the Desert." Based on the manga by the Godfather of Manga himself Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy, Phoenix, Black Jack), Kimba is an early entry in the history of anime, an influential series that is controversially believed to have inspired The Lion King. This large vertical pan cel is joined by its matching rough original animation drawing featuring Nero's lackeys Butcher Boy and Chiller (the trio is named Ibu, Junior, and Sammy in the Japanese version, respectively). Known as the Death Gods, these villains of the episode have a reputation for turning the natural world into wastelands due to their destructive forces and insatiable appetites. This excellent full-figure image measures 8.25" tall, and the cel and drawing are presented in a shared Plexiglas frame measuring 25.25" x 16.25". The mat window sizes are each 8.5" x 10.25". Frames are sold as-is. Minor handling, and the drawing shows light age-related toning/foxing. A rare historical lot, the condition is Very Good.More information about Mushi Production.
