Berserk "The Sword Master" Grapevines Production Background by Shichiro Kobayashi (OLM, 1997). "Have you heard about the drama with the Hawks?" Over beautiful images of grapevines and countryside, scheming nobles plot to disrupt the political progress of Griffith and his mercenary Band of the Hawk. This is a gorgeous original production background seen at the 2:17 mark of the episode "The Sword Master" from the fan-favorite dark fantasy epic Berserk. The background is rendered masterfully in gouache and ink on board measuring 14" x 10", expertly hand-painted by the prominant anime art director Shichiro Kobayashi (1932 - 2022). Known for his unmistakable style using gestural washes of watercolor with stark, inky linework, Shichiro Kobayashi's work can be seen in such celebrated classics as Angel's Egg, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Berserk, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, and many others. This painting shows minor handling and edge wear with pinholes in corners, and it is numbered 6. Light debris/scuffing, and the condition overall is Very Good.Auction Info
