Description

Maurice Noble "Sam Sheepdog" Concept/Color Key Mini-Paintings Original Art Group of 3 (Warner Brothers, c. 1950s-60s). "Morning, Sam." "Morning, Ralph." Maurice Noble (1911 - 2001) created this set of three miniature painted concepts or background color key images for the Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog cartoons directed by Chuck Jones. There were seven shorts produced from 1953-63 (one with alternate names "Fred" and "George"), including Don't Give Up the Sheep; Sheep Ahoy; Double or Mutton; Steal Wool, Ready, Woolen and Able; A Sheep in the Deep; and Woolen Under Where. The tree-filled color key concepts are painted in gouache on paper with image sizes averaging 4" x 3.125" and black borders; each painting is signed as "M. Noble" and marked on back as "Sheep Dog" Idea with a full signature. All are very cool! Condition is Very Good with minor handling and edge wear.
