Description

Aladdin Prince Ali Animation Drawing Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1992). "For the first time in my life, things are starting to go right." With a smitten sign, disguised Aladdin watches his date return to her royal chambers in this spectacular sequence of four rough animation drawings from his titular 1992 Disney feature film. Another musical smash success for the Studio's Renaissance era, Aladdin was inspired by the Arabic folktale of the same name from 1,001 Arabian Nights and would go on to become the most successful film of its release year. Utterly lovestruck after sharing his first kiss with Princess Jasmine, Aladdin (disguised as the appropriately royal Prince Ali Ababwa) can be spotted near the 1:02:23 timestamp as he watches the Princess see herself back inside following their cross-country carpet ride during the memorable "A Whole New World" song sequence. Rendered loosely in graphite with faint red pencil on one drawing, these outstanding closeups have average image areas of approximately 7" x 8" across the sequence on 12 field animation sheets which are double numbered in the top right corners as 23 (4), 27 (4), 31 (6), and 37 (10) which also includes a timing chart. The frame numbers on these sheets are all circled, indicating they were key frames and possibly created by the character's supervising animator Glen Keane. Like all Disney feature films from 1990 onward, Aladdin was digitally painted meaning no hand-painted cels were used in the film's production making animation drawings like these highly collectable. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning with faint surface wrinkling near the left edge, overall this enamored sequence is in Good condition.
