Description
The Little Mermaid Ariel Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1989). From Disney's last traditionally animated film and the beloved feature that harkened the beginning of the Disney Renaissance, we present a lovely original color model cel of Ariel. Color models like this were hand-painted by the Disney Ink and Paint Department at the studio lot in a meticulous but necessary part of production. They were created for artists to reference as they worked so they could keep the colors in every sequence consistent and would have been made for each character and each change in lighting to make the scene seamless, whether it was for the green glow of Ursula's spell or Ariel's sun-soaked palette while she was on land. This full figure color model cel is noted "Ariel - Light Storm #1" at the bottom edge and would have been used during one of the storm scenes in the film. The little mermaid measures approximately 6'' x 7.75'' in a roughly 7.5'' x 10'' mat window, displayed on a print background and presented in a 20'' x 18'' Plexiglas-fronted frame. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. This piece of the award-winning feature film is in Good condition with light handling and areas of fading to the fading to the linework.Auction Info
