Description

A Bout with a Trout Pair of Little Lulu Storyboards (Famous Studios, 1947). "If you don't go to school, Lulu, you may grow up to be a mule." This pair of original storyboards from the Little Lulu episode "A Bout with a Trout" captures key scenes from this classic 1950s animation. Rendered in color pencil on 8.5" x 11" paper, these storyboards are believed to be the work of Isadore Klein, who co-wrote the episode with Jack Ward. A storyboard serves as a graphic organizer, displaying illustrations or images in sequence to pre-visualize motion pictures, planning aspects such as camera shots, angles, and character blocking. In this episode, Little Lulu is torn between playing hooky to go fishing and attending school, ultimately choosing fishing, where she encounters the Fish from Cartoon Hades. The vintage storyboards depict Lulu and the trout in a scene involving the First Reader Book. Presented in vintage Fair condition, these storyboards exhibit age-related toning, edge wear, and pinholes in the corners, evidence of their use in story meetings. These pieces offer a nostalgic glimpse into the creative process behind Little Lulu's adventures.
