Description
Silver Surfer Production Cel with Production Background and Animation Drawing (Marvel Studios, 1998). Created for the 1998 animated series Silver Surfer, this is a spectacular hand-painted original production cel featuring the iconic titular hero charging full speed toward us. A pose and stylization evocative of some of the greatest Jack Kirby drawings, this magnificent 16 field cel has a centered hand-painted image area of 4.75" x 5.5", and the piece is displayed on a hand-painted original production background, possibly from the series. The background is rendered in gouache on 16 field board numbered 20-56 and 86 in the upper right corner. This lot includes a matching original animation drawing of the same dimensions, rendered in graphite and color pencil on animation paper. Both the cel and drawing are numbered B22 in the upper right corner. Overall minor handling and edge wear, and the drawing shows very light paint debris in the upper right corner.
