Description

Harrison Ellenshaw "Northern Coast" Original Acrylic on 48" x 30" Canvas Signed by the Artist (c. 2000s). "Northern Coast" is an original fine art painting by renowned visual effects artist Harrison Ellenshaw, conjuring a dramatic shoreline where granite boulders thrust from surf and tide while weathered cliffs tower above. Rendered in acrylic on a substantial 48" x 30" canvas and signed by the artist, the work showcases Ellenshaw's signature command of atmosphere and a soft horizon-melding painterly nuance with the cinematic scale he brought to the screen. Ellenshaw began as a matte painter at Walt Disney Studios, with early credits including The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976). He joined Industrial Light & Magic to craft iconic matte work for Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980), later serving as Visual Effects Supervisor on TRON (1982) and contributing to films such as Pete's Dragon (1977), Captain EO (1986), Superman IV (1987), Ghost (1990), Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992), Dick Tracy (1990), and Escape from L.A. (1996). In 2016 he received the Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. A powerful statement piece from a pioneer whose artistry bridges film and fine art. In Fine condition.
