Description

His Mouse Friday Tom & Jerry Production Cel (MGM, 1951). After he is shipwrecked on an island, Tom ventures into the jungle, where he finds a seemingly-empty native village. The cat is terrified, and he does his best to avoid meeting any of the village's inhabitants. Jerry, who seems to be vacationing on the island, takes advantage of Tom's terror, and he disguises himself as one of the locals to frighten the cat. This original, hand-painted, hand-inked production cel comes from the 1951 Tom & Jerry short His Mouse Friday. It depicts a full-figure image of Tom as he tiptoes through the jungle in an attempt to avoid being discovered by the jungle's other inhabitants. This moment can be found in the short at about the 3:22 mark. The cel is tightly trimmed to image, and it is displayed atop a color print background from the scene. This short is rare to find in modern times because of its stereotyped depictions of the island's natives. The image of Tom measures about 4" x 6". The piece is matted, with a matboard aperture of 11.75" x 7.75" and an overall mat size of 16.5" x 12.5". This excellent image of the beloved cat is in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear.
