Description

Sleepy-Time Tom Tom & Jerry Production Cel Setup (MGM, 1951). "Listen here, night owl. If I catch you asleep on the job, you're going out. Understand?" After a long night out with his friends, Tom can barely keep his eyes open. Within moments of returning home, the cat is fast asleep. However, Mammy Two Shoes isn't having it. Angry with the cat's overnight absence, she threatens Tom with being thrown outside if he falls asleep instead of chasing Jerry away from the kitchen. This setup from Tom & Jerry short Sleepy-Time Tom is composed of two original, hand-painted, hand-inked production cels that depict a smiling, mischievous Jerry and an exhausted, half-asleep Tom trying to do his duty by hunting the mouse. The image of Tom can be found at about the 3:15 mark of the short, while Jerry is found a few moments later at the 3:30 mark. This classic cat-chases-mouse setup features a 6.5" x 7.5" image of Tom sleepily wielding a baseball bat and a 1.5" x 1.5" image of Jerry. The cels are trimmed to 10" x 8.25" and displayed atop a color print background from the scene. The piece is matted, with a matboard aperture measuring 9.75" x 7.75" and an overall mat size of 14.5" x 12.5". This great setup is in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including a small bit of line wear on Tom's eyebrow and some minor debris.
