Description

Tom K. Ryan Tumbleweeds Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-26-79 (United Feature Syndicate, 1979). Ryan's deadpan cynicism made Tumbleweeds a popular attraction from 1965 through 2007 -- a Western, fashioned after such droll stand-up comedians as Jack Roy (alias Rodney Dangerfield) and Jackie Vernon. "My characters scowl a lot," Ryan once said. "That's what makes them funny." True to form, this splendid installment offers nary a smiling face -- except for the smile it leaves with the reader. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 17" x 5". Faint toning and lightly worn far corners. Excellent condition.
