Description

MAD #24 (EC, 1955) Condition: VG+. Bill Gaines and Harvey Kurtzman hatched a plan to skirt the impending Comics Code Authority that threatened to restrict their MADcap publication - change the format from a comic book to a magazine! It seemed to work all right... for over 60 years! This is the first issue in the magazine format and first appearance of the "What? Me worry?" slogan and a Alfred E. Neuman prototype in the border of the cover designed by Editor Harvey Kurtzman. Inside, the work of Kurtzman, Wally Wood, Jack Davis, Bill Elder, and Bernie Krigstein continued the high standard first displayed in the comic format version of MAD. Overstreet 2023 VG 4.0 value = $188.
From the Personal MAD Collection of David Lubin, MD.
