Description
The Mickey Mouse Club Donald Duck Gong Gag Production Cel (Walt Disney, c. 1955). WAK! That's gotta hurt! A running gag on the original Mickey Mouse Club syndicated program had Donald striking the gong at the beginning of each episode, with something different happening each time. In this Bill Justice-animated gag, the gong explodes upon contact with Donald's mallet! The end result is the "toasted" Donald as seen in this original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel. The gag can be found on YouTube, in a Leonard Maltin-hosted 4:22 short; find this at the 3:01 mark (a screen grab print of this is included). The cel image has an approximate overall size of 3.5" x 4.75". The cel is matted with an opening of 10.5" x 7", and is framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 16" x 12.5" x 1.5".
