Description
Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color "The Mickey Mouse 40th Anniversary Show" Mickey and Minnie Kiss Production Cel Sequence of 6 (Walt Disney, 1968). Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse share a full-on kiss in this lovely lot that features the romantic moment in six rare hand-painted production cels from Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color festive episode "The Mickey Mouse 40th Anniversary Show." Written by Ward Kimball and directed by Robert Stevenson, the special episode aired on 12/22/68, taking a nostalgic journey through Mickey Mouse's most memorable appearances. The whimsical smooch shared by the two iconic characters has the fancy Mickey wearing a similar outfit to the one seen in the 1942 short Mickey's Birthday Party, and featured Minnie Mouse measuring about 2.5" x 4.5" and Mickey standing at 3.25" x 3.5" as they join lips with a shared image size of approximately 5.5" x 4", concluding with a wonderful image of the enamored couple smiling blissfully. The skilled Ward Kimball animated this incredible sequence, and it shows, as each of the individual cels display great dynamism and charm. The cels are each offered on 16" x 12" mats with 11.5" x 7.5" openings. Mats are sold as is. Overall, the lot presents light handling wear from production, with some showing paper residue attached to the back of the cel and light paint separation.
