Beauty and the Beast Gaston and Belle Presentation Cel and Key Master Production Background (Walt Disney, 1991). You know, Belle, there's not a girl in town who wouldn't love to be in your shoes. This is the day your dreams come true." Belle is surprised by Gaston's visit. He checks himself in the mirror and proudly announces his intentions to marry her. Belle politely turns down the arrogant, chauvinistic hunter. Initially offered as lot 60 in the 10/17/92 NY Beauty and the Beast auction. Because Beauty and the Beast was nearly completely hand-drawn animation on paper that was then scanned, painted and composited via computer, there are no production cels. Using the original drawings and source material, Disney created a traditional cel at the Walt Disney Ink and Paint Department located on the studio lot. The cel is paired with the original hand-painted production background used in the film. This gorgeous background measures 12.5" x 26" and is stamped in the bottom center border, "LK" for Lisa Keene, the film's background supervisor. Also, noted in the bottom border, "Seq.5 Sc.13". The cel contains a stamp indicating the auction date and film logo. Matted to 32" x 20" with a matboard aperture of 22" x 10". These Beauty and the Beast auction setups rarely come to market making this a great acquisition opportunity for collectors of animation. Fine condition.Auction Info
