The Jungle Book Mowgli in Jungle 14.25" x 8.75" Original Concept Drawing by Dale Barhart (Walt Disney, 1967). Presented in this lot is an outstanding concept art drawing featuring the "man-cub" protagonist of Disney's 1967 animated film The Jungle Book, sitting near a bonfire in the middle of the dark jungle by Dale Barnhart (1918 - 1996). This animated classic, the last in which Walt Disney was involved before passing away in 1966, was adapted from the stories of the book of the same title by Rudyard Kipling. Absolutely stunning, this piece of production artwork is rendered in graphite on board, measuring a fantastic image size of 14.25" x 8.75" and an overall size of 20" x 14". This immersive drawing does an incredible job of making Mowgli feel small and vulnerable with the detailed rendering of a shadowy jungle crowded with vegetation. The back of the piece lists layout artist Dale Barnhart as the artist behind this impressive concept art. Barnhart is also recognized for his work in other Disney productions like The Sword in the Stone and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The lot shows normal age-related toning, tape on the margins, and some handling and edge wear from production, away from the art. In Very Good condition.Auction Info
