Neon Genesis Evangelion Misato Katsuragi Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Gainax, 1997). Throughout the series, Misato Katsuragi takes an incredibly overwhelming amount of responsibility by planning, strategizing, and coordinating the attacks against the invading Angels. In this unbelievable lot, we get an image of the captain as she is informed about the dangerous Ramiel, "Offensively and defensively it's almost perfect. A flying fortress." Sitting in the operation room of Nerv at the 5:35 mark of the sixth episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Misato measures a sensational image size of 8" x 8.25" on the hand-painted 12 field size production cel setup. The setup is taped to the very rare Key Master background for this scene, masterfully detailed with glowing elements that complement this lot enormously. Rendered in gouache on background board, the background measures an image size of 12" x 9.25". Both the setup and the background show staple holes in the top edge, with the background also showing very small pinholes near the bottom right and left corners and on the left and right edges. The setup shows light ink fading and has very light surface scratches that don't affect the art. With very light handling wear from production use, the lot is in Very Good condition.
