Neon Genesis Evangelion Eva Unit 02 Production Cel (Gainax, c. 1995-96). Eva Unit 02 stands ready for battle in this awesome hand-painted original production cel from the acclaimed anime phenomenon Neon Genesis Evangelion. Described as a deconstruction of the mecha genre, Evangelion's thought-provoking themes, rich characterizations, strong animation, innovative design, and auteuristic direction all led it to be a highly influential and groundbreaking series for both anime and pop culture as a whole. In fact, Hideaki Anno's series is often credited for revitalizing the anime industry in Japan. A picture-perfect pose of the iconic red Eva piloted by the proud Asuka Langley Soryu, this incredible image nearly fills the 12 field cel. The cel bears the numbers 179 and B2 in the upper right corner, and it shows minor handling and edge wear from normal studio use.
