Description

Bambi Thumper and Bambi Nitrate Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1942). "No, that's a flower!" Young Bambi's little friend Thumper tries to teach the young Prince of the Forest how to speak while surrounded by flowers in this rare original hand-inked and hand-painted production cel with an original custom Courvoisier background. This Disney classic was based on Felix Salten's novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods. The cels come from two separate scenes; Thumper can be seen in his pose at about the 13:14 time, while Bambi and the flowers are found at about the 14:08 mark, though the setup features snow of winter. The nitrate cels have been carefully trimmed by hand and arranged on a Courvoisier hand-painted/airbrushed background. The combined cel image is approximately 8" x 4.25"; the setup is matted with an opening of 9.75" x 8" and is framed with glass for an overall size of 17.25" x 16.25". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The paint has cracked considerably (especially Thumper's body and the snowdrifts Bambi is standing in) and would benefit from professional restoration, the nitrate also exhibits slight warping; the overall condition is Fair to Good.
