Description

Fantasia "The Pastoral Symphony" Centaurette Original Character Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1940). Here is a beautiful original mixed media on 12 field paper character concept of one of the stunning centaurettes from the "The Pastoral Symphony" segment of Fantasia. These centaurettes were inspired by Disney Legend Fred Moore's "Freddie's Girls" and have the same innocent allure and startling beauty in the film as they get ready for the day with the help of a few cherubs, search for their centaur partners, and attend a Bacchanal for the god of wine Bacchus. Moore also guided and influenced the creation of the segment as the supervising animator of "The Pastoral Symphony" while other artists like James Boldrero, John Miller, Lorna Soderstrom, and Sylvia Holland created their own interpretations and stunning designs for the characters during development. The full figure image has a lovely pose and is nicely centered on the 12 field page at roughly 10'' x 8.75''. The design itself is similar to the blonde centaurette that appears at about 1:19:10 in the film with only minor adjustments to the look of the character herself. The concept art is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint toning.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
