Description

Animal Farm Mr. Jones and Animals Production Cel with Custom Background (Halas and Batchelor, 1954). "The very next morning, sooner perhaps than Old Major would have predicted, the animals found their situation quite unbearable." The downtrodden animals of Mr. Jones' farm break into the food cellar, but they are quickly caught by the farmer in this fantastic hand-inked and hand-painted original production cel setup. Seen at the 13:47 mark of the 1954 feature film Animal Farm, based on the celebrated novella by George Orwell, this piece captures a dramatic image of Mr. Jones in the moment he corners the animals. One of the cels has been meticulously trimmed to image and mounted to the topmost cel, and the setup is displayed on a custom background rendered in gouache on board. The piece is displayed in a 17.75" x 14.75" mat board with a window size of 11.5" x 8.75". Overall minor handling and edge wear, and the condition of this rare treasure is Very Good.
