Disneyland - "Submarine Voyage" 36" x 54" Hand-Pulled Silk-Screened Park Attraction Poster (Walt Disney, 1959). Fantastic vintage park-attraction serigraph poster for Disneyland's Submarine Voyage-Sam McKim's iconic hand-pulled silkscreen that beckons guests to "Explore uncharted seas! Submarine Voyage thru liquid space." Documented on page 102 of Poster Art of Disney Parks (Danny Handke, Vanessa Hunt), this striking 36" x 54" original hails from Tomorrowland's landmark 1959 expansion and one of the park's earliest E-ticket adventures. McKim's design captures the Cold War-era mystique of undersea exploration as riders board sleek "subs" for a simulated journey inspired in part by the USS Nautilus's 1958 polar under-ice crossing. As on the attraction, your imagination supplies the depth: taped narration, the Captain's orders to "clear the bridge" and "secure hatches," ramps rising, and "all ahead one-third" setting the tone for a cinematic voyage through liquid space. Early concepts flirted with live sea life, but Imagineering instead delivered a richly staged illusion-exactly the spirit this poster celebrates. Rolled and in overall Fair to Good condition with edge wear and a torn upper-right corner (easily hidden under matting), this large-format serigraph remains a superb, display-ready relic from Disneyland's formative years.Auction Info
