Description

Sesame Street The Count and Others Double-Page Book Illustration Signed by Michael Smollin Original Art (Children's Television Workshop, c. 1970s-80s). Everybody except Oscar the Grouch is counting something in this cool children's Sesame Street double-page book illustration. We've not been able to track down which book this Michael Smollin (1925 - 2020) illustration is from; perhaps the 1977 The Day the Count Stopped Counting. In the illustration we see Sherlock Hemlock counting bird footprints; Bert counting his collection of bottle caps, Oscar emptying the trash from his can as the Count tries to keep up, Betty Lou counts her handful of marbles, and Little Bird simply walks away. The art is noted as pages 28 and 29 and is in watercolor/color markers, ink, and light blue shading film (for the blue sky) on 19.25" x 11.75" board, with an approximate image size of 17.75" x 10.5". The art is hand-signed by Mr. Smollin in the lower right. The art condition is Very Good with minor handling wear and tack holes in the outer borders.
