Description

The Sesame Street Calendar: The 1980 World Games September Illustration by Michael Smollin Signed Original Art (Children's Television Workshop, 1979). Equestrian show jumping is the event for this 1980 Sesame Street calendar's September page illustration. We see Grover riding backwards on his horse, while Cookie Monster carries his horse before stopping for a cookie break in these colorful illustrations by longtime Sesame Street artist Michael Smollin (1925 - 2020), a former advertising artist and animator. The smaller strip of art at the bottom appeared over the September calendar grid and includes many more Sesame Street characters, like the Count, Ernie and Bert, and others. The art is in watercolor/color markers, ink, and yellow film (in the top two panels). Mr. Smollin has hand-signed the art in the lower right corner. The image size is approximately 13.5" x 12.25" on an 18" x 14.5" board. A color photocopy of the published page is included. The art condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
