Description

The Little Mermaid: Sebastian's Story Ariel and Sebastian Children's Storybook Preliminary Illustration by John Kurtz Original Art (Walt Disney/Western Publishing, 1992). "That night I tried to talk some sense into Ariel. 'You must never go near the humans again' I said. 'It's better down here where it's wetter - under the sea!'" In this breathtaking original storybook preliminary, good old Sebastian does what he can to persuade Ariel to stay away from the land walkers, but he knows that desires of the heart cannot be easily swayed, no matter how logical his argument might be! Calling this great piece of art "preliminary" is a disservice, as it looks completely finished and ready to frame. This Disney Renaissance movie touched many hearts in 1989, and the film continues to delight young and old whenever it's shown. Artist John Kurtz has been the Disney Studio's go-to man for the past 30+ years for book art like this, and his originals have been in high demand by fans, so don't let this one get away! The art is in color pencils and graphite on an 11" x 17" sheet of high-quality Bristol board, with an approximate image size of 13" x 7.5". Color prints of the book's cover and two-page interior spread with the final published illustration are included for comparison. The art is in Fine condition with very light handling.
From the Disney and Children's Book Illustrator John Kurtz Collection.
