Description

Marc Davis Enga Warriors Original Watercolor Painting (Walt Disney, c. 1970s-80s). "Three Enga Warriors at the Mount Hagen sing sing." reads the caption for this incredible original ink and watercolor painting from the hand of Marc Davis (1913 - 2000). Signed by the celebrated Disney Legend, this piece captures the artist's love for the art and cultures of Papua New Guinea, created after his formative trips to the country with Alice Davis in the 1970s. Marc's first artwork depicting the native cultures of New Guinea occurred during the development of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in the early 1950s, where he created costume designs for the film. It is speculated that the artist's interest in oceanic cultures stemmed from the experience and blossomed after his personal visits to the South Pacific. This fantastic painting is framed under glass with a mat window size of 10.5" x 14.5" and an overall frame size of 16.5" x 20.5". The piece originally hung in the residence of Marc and Alice Davis. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Well preserved in the frame, the painting shows minimal handling, and the condition is Very Good.
