Doraemon Production Cel with Production Background (Shin-Ei Animation, c. 1979-2005). Presented is a delightful hand-painted original production cel featuring the eponymous earless cat from the future from the long-running anime series Doraemon. Doraemon is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, and the extensive animated film series has the highest number of admissions in Japan. The Doraemon character has been viewed as a Japanese cultural icon and was appointed as the first "anime ambassador" in 2008 by the country's Foreign Ministry. This marvelous image featuring the instantly recognizable main characters is presented on a stunning original production background, possibly from the series, rendered in gouache on background board. The cel bears the handwritten numbers C556 and A1 and the top edge, and the background is numbered 28-29 in the upper right corner. The 12 field setup shows minor studio handling and edge wear, and the cel is stapled to the background at the top edge. The condition overall is Very Good.
