Description

Mulan Mushu and Cri-Kee Presentation Cel with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1998). "What you mean, a loser? How 'bout I pop one of your antennas off, throw it across the yard? Then who's the loser, me or you?" Before starting the journey to help turn Mulan into a war hero, Mushu and Cri-Kee have a little argument about bringing good luck. As seen at the 25:19 mark for the 1998 Disney animated film Mulan, we get this image of Mulan's charismatic companions, as seen in this wonderful hand-painted presentation cel featured on a stunning gouache Key Master background that renders the outside of Fa household beautifully, with spectacular detail on the Chinese guardian lion. The beloved Disney film was the first one to be produced primarily in the Florida Disney/MGM Studios and was created digitally with no production cels, so presentation cels like the one offered in this lot were created as one-of-a-kind items from the original animation drawings by Disney's Ink and Paint Department, featuring a Disney stamp in the bottom right corner of the cel. This cel and background setup was originally sold as lot #55 at the "Art of Disney's Mulan" auction held in New York City in 1999. The lot is featured on a 28.75" x 20" Plexiglas-fronted frame with an opening of 19.5" x 11". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The lot presents minor handling wear and the condition is Very Good to Fine.
