Description
Ghost in the Shell Puppet Master Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Production I.G, 1995). The Puppet Master's host cybernetic body stands still in the rain in this astoundingly rare hand-painted production cel from its introductory scene in Ghost in the Shell. Incredibly advanced, the artificial intelligence known as Puppet Master was created under the codename Project 2501 as a tool of espionage and manipulation that later gained sentience, dubbed the most unique hacker in cyber brain crime history. In order to apprehend it, a barrier was built to force it to dive into the cyberbrain of a Megatech cybernetic body that escaped the facilities and was later found when a driver ran over it. Looking at us with a cold, robotic indifference, the Puppet Master is showcased with raindrops on its face measuring 6.75" x 7.25" on the 14.25" x 9" cel that we see at the 36:42 mark of the film, just before being run over. The matching animation drawing is included with this lot, rendering the image in graphite with detailed shading and highlights in colored pencils on the animation sheet numbered A27 in the top right corner. The cel is offered on a printed background for presentation purposes, taped to it with archival artist tape. Some fading is present on the cel's linework. The animation drawing presents color callouts in red ink. With overall light handling and edge wear from production, the lot's condition is Very Good.Auction Info
