Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth Eva Unit 01 Production Cel (Gainax, 1997). Offered in this lot is a sensational hand-painted production cel from the "Death" part of the 1997 movie Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth, featuring an amazing image of the Eva Unit 01 attacking with the Progressive Knife. Shown during this film's version of Shinji's fight against Shamshel, appearing at the 13:33 timestamp, this image remakes what shows up at about the 19:26 mark of the third episode of the series, "The Phone that Never Rings," with this version featuring the hands of the Evangelion covered by the B-Type Gear. This 12-field two-layer cel shows the Eva Unit 01 with its hands holding the Progressive Knife in the foreground, measuring altogether an image size of 10" x 5.75", featuring the glowing effect on the weapon with airbrush, and motion lines that add dynamism to the picture. The lot is offered on a printed background for presentation purposes, taped to it with archival artist tape. Both layers have adhered together and show toned tape on the top edge. Some fading can be seen on the linework. In Very Good condition with mild handling and edge wear from production.Auction Info
