Description
Pinocchio "Blue Castle" Original Oil on 24" x 36" Canvas by Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw (Walt Disney, 2004). A stunning published original featuring Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Cleo, Figaro, Monstro, and the Blue Fairy by Disney Legend Peter Ellenshaw (1913 - 2007) and his son, Hollywood visual FX guru Harrison Ellenshaw. This gorgeous oil on 24" x 36" canvas also features the Blue Castle - Ellenshaw's depiction of the Blue Fairy's home.Peter Ellenshaw began his long, distinguished career as a movie studio matte painter in 1934 as an assistant matte painter on United Artists' The Scarlet Pimpernel. Born in London in 1913, Ellenshaw's artistic career spanned more than seven decades. With well over 50 films to his credit, Peter would receive five Academy Award® nominations, taking home the coveted OSCAR® for his stunning recreation of Edwardian London in Walt Disney's, Mary Poppins. Ellenshaw's film credits include, The Thief of Bagdad (1940), Treasure Island (1950), Spartacus (1960), The Love Bug (1968), 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1968), The Black Hole (1979), and Dick Tracy (1990). He also has the distinction of having his name appear in a window on Main Street in Disneyland an honor bestowed upon only a few who help create the magic. Harrison began his career as a matte painter with the Walt Disney Studios. He went on to join George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic to create and produce matte paintings and visual FX for Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). His credits in visual FX span decades, including the films; TRON (1982), Dick Tracy (1990), Escape from L.A. (1996), Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992), Ghost (1990), Superman IV (1987), Captain EO (1986), and Pete's Dragon (1977). In 2016 Harrison was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Art Directors' Guild for his contributions to the entertainment industry as a matte painter and visual FX pioneer. This stunning Ellenshaw original is framed to 44.5" x 31" The canvas is presented in Fine condition. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
