Akira Neo-Tokyo Production Background (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). Traverse the streets of Neo-Tokyo with this lot, offering an absolutely stunning hand-painted background from the influential anime film Akira. Showcasing the astounding sense of scale of this futuristic metropolis, this exemplary background places us on the ground level, with tall dark buildings right in front of us, backed by the even more colossal skyscrapers on the back, illuminated by the intensely colorful artificial light of the enormous city. This 14.25" x 10" background, masterfully created in gouache on a background board and numbered 226 on the top edge, briefly appears at the 9:04 timestamp, partially covered in the scene by the police forces shining a searchlight, showcasing the immense detail put into every aspect of this film's production. The lot shows mild handling and edge wear from production. Pinholes can be seen on the top corners of the board. In Very Good condition.Auction Info
