Description

Jack Thurston Hornet's Nest Movie Poster Illustration Rock Hudson Original Art (United Artists, 1970). Jack Thurston is noted for providing many paperback novel cover paintings and many movie poster paintings as well. Here he features Rock Hudson as the leader of a WWII Commando mission to destroy a dam. With his regular team out of action, he is forced to used a band of kid commandos instead! The art is signed by Thurston in the lower right image area. It is interesting to note that the art was designed to crop out the kids-with-guns for a US release of the feature. Produced in gouache over graphite on 36.25" x 22.25" illustration board. The image area measures approximately 29" x 14". There is an area in the top center where a paste-up is missing that would have covered Hudson's gun fire. It has left some glue residue. There are a couple of pinholes and overall tanning, otherwise in Excellent condition.
