Description
Phil Interlandi Below Olympus Comic Strip Original Art (Los Angeles Times, 1971). An amazing homage piece, based on the famous 1514 woodcut print "Melencolia I" by Albrecht Dürer. This pre-Watergate Scandal comic got the date slightly wrong... Spiro T. Agnew was Vice President of the United States of America until 1973. Crafted in ink with heavy use of cross-hatching (to simulate the woodcut look) on Bristol board with an image area of 7" x 10", including the top and bottom text paste-ups. The paste-ups have discolored and there is glue residue near them. Overall in Very Good condition. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.Auction Info
