Action Comics #5 (DC, 1938) CBCS Apparent FN+ 6.5 Moderate (Professional) Off-white to white pages. The vibrant colors on this restored copy are so bright, you might have a hard time believing this comic is over 85 years old! Although he still features in this comic's first story, there was a time when DC was unsure if Superman was the selling point for Action Comics. This uncertainty led to his omission from the covers of issues #2-7 -- a lucky break for this dashing unnamed adventurer, however! Gerber's Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books lists this book as "rare." Leo E. O'Mealia cover. Joe Shuster, Fred Guardineer, and Bernard Baily art. Currently tied for #48 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. CBCS Notes, "Professional restoration includes: small amount of color touch on cover, pieces added to cover and centerfold reinforced. Tear seals to cover and interior, cover and interior cleaned. Staples replaced."
