Description

Original Mary Blair oversize concept art from Peter Pan. Original Mary Blair oversize concept art from Peter Pan. (Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Beautiful Mary Blair original concept painting featuring Indians, and "The Lost Boys" from Peter Pan. An accomplished California Watercolorist, Blair was hired by the Studio in 1940 after being recommended by her husband, Lee. Blair's art was quite different from the styles being used at the studio, and Disney loved it. Her influence can be seen on feature films and shorts throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Peter Pan was the last feature she worked on for the studio. She resigned from Disney and began working freelance as a graphic designer and book illustrator. In the early 1960s at the request of Walt Disney, Blair returned to the studio to work on the "It's A Small World" attraction for the 1964 World's fair and Disneyland. Accomplished in Acrylic and Tempera on illustration board, the image measures 6 x 13.5 in. Condition is very fine with very little wear throughout.
