Description

Michael Lynch Hiya Pops! Painting Original Art (c. 1990s). An immense painting, appropriating two signature characters of Underground Comix master Robert Crumb -- the gluttonous Forky O'Donnell, and the thuggish juvenile delinquent Skutch. Lynch channels the influence through a neo-Pop Art idiomatic format while paraphrasing dialogue associated with Crumb. Briskly rendered, with a combination of sheen and texture that also is reminiscent of the Fleischer Bros.' animated cartoons of the later 1930s. Gouache with airbrush highlights on Illustration board. Protected by a transparent layer of plastic. Image area, 18" x 26". Faint toning. Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
