Description

Casper the Friendly Ghost Original Storyboard Art (Famous Studios, c. 1950s). In this lot is a rare storyboard from Casper the Friendly Ghost. Casper was created in the late 1930s by Seymour Reit (concocting ideas for the character) and Joe Oriolo (providing illustrations). This storyboard was illustrated by Isadore (Izzy) Klein (1897-1986). Izzy landed his first job as an animator at the age of 19! He would go on to write and animate for Disney, Paramount, and Terrytoons. A storyboard is a graphic organizer that consists of illustrations displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a story in sequence. The storyboarding process, in the form it is known today, was developed at Walt Disney Productions during the early 1930s, after several years of similar processes being in use at Walt Disney and other animation studios. Vintage storyboards are highly sought after by astute collectors of the medium. This is a wonderful piece rendered in graphite and blue pencil on 8.5" x 11" animation paper. Light production handling with tack holes in the corners. Overall condition is Very Good.
